I do like Steiner binoculars, and the Steiner Merlin's are ideal for birding, the Safari 8x30 Binoculars make ideal nature observation binoculars, but if you are looking for a pair of binoculars to actually take on safari, I would also consider a pair that is more compact and thus easier to carry in your luggage.
